Abstract

The developments in the various fields of life on the earth in the past decades have provoked many phenomena and negative reflections on the human environment which they live, and these negative effects exceeded the fate of the current generation to jump on the rights of next generations , and because of these unwanted reflections, global attention has begun to apply the concepts of sustainable development in order to protect the rights of next generations and preserve the purity and health of the environment and also to maintain sufficient resources for all. Quality of high education is one of the essential pillars of sustainable development.

The aim of the research was to identify the concept and the importance of the quality of high education and comprehensive quality standards of the educational field and the concept of sustainable development and its characteristics, objectives and dimensions, besides the impact of the quality of high education in achieving the requirements of sustainable development. The researchers have reached a number of conclusions. The most important ones are the availability of laboratory equipment, tools, modern presentation devices, presentation of lectures, financial allocations for scientific researches and the development and updating educational curricula of high education institutions. The researchers recommended a number of recommendations; the most important one is the need to direct teaching staff of high education institutions to learn about the experiences of developed countries and to benefit from them in the fields of sustainable development.
