The role of social media as one of the electronic promotion tools in achieving pharmacovigilance
An applied study of the opinions of a sample of pharmacists working at Al-Diwaniyah Teaching Hospital

The current research aims to provide a detailed perception about social media as one of the electronic promotion tools in achieving pharmacovigilance. Thus, the research sample was represented in (87) pharmacists, as the research focuses on the required capabilities that can be provided by Al-Diwaniyah Teaching Hospital to play its social role in marketing positive and beneficial ideas to achieve pharmacological vigilance and rationalize the use of medicines by members of the community. The research used one of the famous marketing philosophies, which is the philosophy of social marketing, which seeks to employ social media as one of the electronic promotion tools in building a conscious and mature society that abandons negative behaviors and adopts what is in the interest of the individual, his family and society as a whole. Through the application of social media as one of the electronic promotion tools, it is possible to build a clear awareness in order to confront viruses, spread medical and health ideas and advice, and rational use of medicines to avoid potential infections on the one hand, and reduce the state of panic that afflicts society as a result of fear of disease and negative results from the misuse of medicines. It is also possible through social media applications to spread awareness among members of society about how to practice part of their daily work without stopping in light of the available capabilities. The results showed that the awareness of Al-Diwaniyah Teaching Hospital of the importance of social media as one of the electronic promotion tools contributes to achieving pharmacovigilance.
